Passage
Romans 5:2-5
English Standard Version:
"Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
New Living Translation:
"Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."
New International Version:
"Through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

Transcript
This is Journey with Prayer, a prayer journey corresponding
Speaker:to a previous episode.
Speaker:Through him, we have also obtained access by faith into this
Speaker:grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the
Speaker:glory of god. Not only that, but we rejoice in our
Speaker:sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
Speaker:and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.
Speaker:And hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured
Speaker:out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to
Speaker:us. Romans 5 verse 2 to 5,
Speaker:taken from the ESV.
Speaker:Jesus, we approach you with hearts that are both heavy and
Speaker:hopeful, acknowledging your mighty power and the perfect
Speaker:purpose that you weave through our sufferings.
Speaker:We declare your faithfulness and your sovereignty as you shape
Speaker:us through the trials that we encounter. And we rejoice not
Speaker:for the suffering itself, but for the endurance, the character,
Speaker:and the hope that comes from it under your careful cultivation.
Speaker:Thank you for the process of refinement that comes through hardship
Speaker:as it guides us closer to your heart and deepens our reliance on
Speaker:you. In every season of pain and
Speaker:challenge, remind us that you are not just the God of the
Speaker:mountain tops, but also the God of the valleys.
Speaker:May we cling to that promise that you're working all
Speaker:things for our good and for your glory.
Speaker:And, father, we lift up those around us who are waiting through seasons of
Speaker:hardship. May they feel your presence, drawing from it
Speaker:the strength and the endurance needed to persevere.
Speaker:Help us all to see the beauty and hope that arises
Speaker:from faithfully walking with you through every trial.
Speaker:And transform our hearts. Lord, expand our
Speaker:empathy and love for others, especially the
Speaker:vulnerable and hurting in our communities. Give us the courage
Speaker:to act, the wisdom to support effectively, and
Speaker:the humility to lean on you throughout it all.
Speaker:And bind us together, Lord, as a community of believers who
Speaker:bear one another's burdens and celebrate one another's victories.
Speaker:May our lives reflect the hope that endures, shining brightly
Speaker:as beacons to those who are searching. In your
Speaker:glorious and wonderful name, Amen.
Speaker:So as you go through your week, I wanna encourage you to
Speaker:take the time to do these three things. 1st of
Speaker:all, reflect. Spend some time reflecting on Romans 5:2 to
Speaker:5. Consider what areas of your life are currently
Speaker:challenging and how God might be used in these situations to develop
Speaker:endurance, character, and ultimately hope in
Speaker:you. And then engage. Reach out to
Speaker:support a community member or a friend who is going through a tough
Speaker:time. Sometimes simple acts of kindness like sending an encouraging
Speaker:note, organizing community support, or
Speaker:simply listening can make a big difference.
Speaker:And lastly, pray. Here's 3 ways that you can
Speaker:pray. Pray for those in the midst of suffering,
Speaker:that they might find the peace and comfort only God can
Speaker:provide and endure towards a hopeful outcome.
Speaker:And you can pray for the church and community leaders to have
Speaker:the wisdom to effectively support and guide those suffering around
Speaker:them. And lastly, you can ask God
Speaker:to transform your own heart through your own experience and
Speaker:sufferings, cultivating a deeper character and a steadfast
Speaker:hope that can encourage others.
Speaker:Engaging with these things throughout your week will not only deepen your own
Speaker:faith experience but empower you to act as a beacon of hope
Speaker:and support to those around you.
