Speaker:Welcome back to 6 Tales of Christmas. Today, we unwrap a
Speaker:story that's as sweet as it is profound, a story
Speaker:about Christmas cookies. But not just any cookies,
Speaker:these are the kind who find their way into the precious hands of the most
Speaker:hurting people. So grab a hot drink and settle in for
Speaker:a tale about when cookies crumble.
Speaker:Once upon a time, in the cozy kitchen of the great
Speaker:baker, there lived a batch of Christmas cookies.
Speaker:Each one was lovingly crafted with care and purpose,
Speaker:with ingredients that combine to be so delightful and desirable to
Speaker:everyone who catches their aroma. And the great baker
Speaker:is masterful in his kitchen, knowing just what each
Speaker:cookie is created for and who they are about to delight.
Speaker:A conversation unfolds as he places each warm treat
Speaker:onto the plate. Gingerbread,
Speaker:said the baker. You're strong and bold,
Speaker:made to stand tall for those in need. I need you to go to
Speaker:those who are mistreated and overcooked.
Speaker:Gingerbread puffed up with pride. You got it, baker.
Speaker:I'll stand up for them. No one will catch them. I'm the gingerbread
Speaker:woman. Next came Sugar
Speaker:Cookie, delicately shaped into a sparkling star.
Speaker:You, Sugar Cookie, are here to shine bright and bring joy into the dark
Speaker:places. I need you to go to those who are sad and
Speaker:grieving. Wonderful. Sugar Cookie Twinkled, his
Speaker:sprinkles catching the light. Oh, I'll do my very best to
Speaker:shine brightly within their darkness until the sun shines again.
Speaker:Then came snickerdoodle, warm and golden, dusted
Speaker:with cinnamon. You're the comforter, my dear. You
Speaker:remind others of love and home when they feel lost and alone.
Speaker:Mhmm. Snickerdoodle gave a soft soothing sigh.
Speaker:Ah. I like that, baker. I'll be there for anyone who
Speaker:needs me. Finally, the baker carefully
Speaker:lifted the peppermint shortbread. You, little one,
Speaker:bring refreshment and courage. You're a pick me
Speaker:up gift for those weary hearts. Shortbread
Speaker:beamed, her peppermint swirls gleaming. I'll make
Speaker:sure everyone keeps going, even when life gets tough.
Speaker:The cookies love their special callings and it was true.
Speaker:They came alive when they went to those the baker created them for in the
Speaker:community. They really did wanna make a difference.
Speaker:But as time went on, the cookies began to feel the weight of the work.
Speaker:Gingerbread found himself balancing more than she could handle, her
Speaker:strong arms starting to crack. Sugar cookie's
Speaker:bright sparkles began to fade as he tried to sparkle for everyone
Speaker:around her. Snickerdoodle's warmth started to cool,
Speaker:and Shortbread's peppermint swirls felt stretched thin.
Speaker:Gingerbread, with great worry and sadness, exclaimed,
Speaker:baker, I think I'm breaking. I wanted to be strong, but I
Speaker:don't know how much more I can hold. And then Sugar
Speaker:Cookie softly and wearily whispered, I'm trying to
Speaker:shine, but my sparkles are all gone. What if
Speaker:I'm not enough? Snickerdoodle gently, but
Speaker:worn out mumbled, even cinnamon feels tired.
Speaker:Baker, I don't know if I can keep comforting others.
Speaker:And then peppermint shortbread in a small voice squeaked,
Speaker:I wanted to refresh everyone, but now I just feel
Speaker:crumbly.
Speaker:The baker listened carefully to each cookie, his
Speaker:warm hands gently gathering them up.
Speaker:Oh, my sweet cookies. You weren't meant to do this all on your
Speaker:own. Even the strongest, sweetest, and
Speaker:brightest need care too.
Speaker:The baker continued calmly and reassuringly,
Speaker:I made you with purpose, and I see every crack and
Speaker:crumble, but you're never too broken for me to
Speaker:restore. Let's start with a little rest,
Speaker:a sprinkle of support, and some time together.
Speaker:When you're weak, then you can still be strong.
Speaker:Here, let me teach you.
Speaker:The baker called all his skilled helpers to care for all the
Speaker:crumbling cookies. They worked carefully and
Speaker:skillfully with each cookie that came crumbling back through those
Speaker:doors, soothing gingerbread's cracks,
Speaker:brightening sugar cookie sprinkles, and warming snicker
Speaker:doodle cinnamon, and then refreshing the swirls of shortbread.
Speaker:The baker declared with a satisfied smile, there
Speaker:you are ready to keep going again. But remember, when you feel like
Speaker:you're crumbling, my team of helpers and I are always here
Speaker:to keep you going. The cookies
Speaker:beamed. They realized they didn't have to do it all alone.
Speaker:With the baker's care and support, they could keep fulfilling their
Speaker:purpose. Their calling wasn't easy, but they
Speaker:sure brought a lot of hope into their community.
Speaker:This Christmas, the cookies remind us of the caregivers in our world,
Speaker:the foster parent, the social care worker, the
Speaker:pastor, the good neighbor, those who give so much to
Speaker:others but need a little care themselves.
Speaker:Remember, even when cookies crumble, there's always
Speaker:hope for
Speaker:restoration. This Christmas, you can help
